Alliance Française de San Diego

With the support of the Cultural Services at the French Consulate and Alliance Française San Diego, Valerie will be presenting, in French, for teachers of French across all grade levels. Topics covered include teacher credentialing processes, dual-immersion best practices, and tech integration for student centered learning.

Valerie will be presenting writing protocols with edtech integration on Saturday, March 3 at 3:10pm with the support of Dr. Sharon Ulanoff from California State University, Los Angeles. The session is titled Technology Integration for Teaching Writing to Emergent Bilingual Students.

Raspberry Pi Certified Educators will be sharing activities with Raspberry Pis that can be completed in a classroom, including projects for makerspaces.

French Immersion Program Discussion, Los Angeles, CA

With the support of the Cultural Services at the French Consulate, Valerie will be leading discussions with district administrators from LAUSD, Glendale, Pasadena, Inglewood, San Francisco, San Diego, Cave Creek (Arizona), teachers, and parents regarding the growth of French dual-immersion programs. Questions, concerns, and areas of assistances shared by stakeholders will be addressed openly with each other and through reading of current immersion research. Grade level teachers will have the opportunity to delve into NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements as it correlates with Common Core Language Arts standards for each grade.

Monica and Valerie will lead administrators and leaders through four #EduProtocols and four visible thinking strategies that can help school leaders provide more teacher-centered PDs and also help teachers provide more student-centered learning experiences that focus on the 4Cs, particularly critical thinking and creativity.
